Collected over the course of the 1960’s (Virginia Polytechnic Institute) to the mid 1990’s (Woods Hole), this set of nearly 250 human gut Bacteroidetes was a generous gift from Abigail Salyers at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. This collection forms the nucleus of our current human gut Bacteroidetes polysaccharide phenotypic dataset, along with a number of type strains for each human gut species that are available in ATCC and/or DSMZ or through the Human Microbiome Project (these are also listed in the database below).
